A Message from the President of the Lutheran Church of South Sudan,
Rev. Jordan Long
What a Remarkable Week!
Last week (June 25-July 1, 2016) was a remarkable and historical week for the LCSS. It was a week that God turned mourning into joy (Jeremiah 31:13), wailing into dancing (Psalm 30:11) and weaknesses into strength (Hebrew 11:34).
Two and half years after deadly and brutal violence rocked South Sudan, the Lutheran Church of South Sudan celebrated the joy of graduating the first cohort of our Trinity Lutheran Seminary and the ordination of five new graduates. These new pastors have already began bearing witness to the Gospel among the refugees and the displaced. This milestone could not have been reached without spiritual and financial support of faithful friends and partners in ministry. Thanks to the mission team who took time out of busy schedules to join the LCSS in the celebration and to the LCSS' North American Advisory Board and countless partners in ministry for the prayers and support.
Yes, it was a week that the LCSS' Trinity Lutheran Seminary graduated the seminary's first cohort and ordained the new graduates. The new pastors have already began bearing witness to the Gospel in the refugees camps and beyond. The LCSS is grateful for the mission team who joined us in celebrating the gradation and the ordination. Doug Morton remained in Ethiopia teaching Greek New Testament. He and I will recap the glorious aspect of the week for publicity.
Pr. Jordan has posted the graduation speeches that you may download in PDF format should you choose to do so. Click Here to download!
